Petrol Engine Management
Specialist Components develop engine mangement systems to suit all petrol applications. We are experts in road vehicle emissions and have experience of developing firmware and calibrations to meet European and Federal exhaust emissions and OBD standards.
We can operate the latest engine technologies using our engine management systems and have succefully controlled engines with dual variable camshaft timing, electronic throttle control and gasoline direct injection (GDI). Our diesel engine management experience has enabled us to be one of the first companies to offer direct injection engine management ECUs using our programmable injector driver modules (IDM). We can also control the complex Bosch HDP5 high pressure fuel pump used in most modern GDI engines.
All the hardware, software and firmware for our ECUs is developed by SC at our premises in Norfolk, United Kingdom. This flexibility and competence allows us to produce ECUs to meet our customers' requirements in the shortest possible timescales.
Our Typhoon and Tornado ECUs feature:
- 32 Bit Microprocessor with 1Mb memory
- Industry standard CANbus communications with Dashboards and Dataloggers
- Bespoke SC micro USB-CAN dongle interface and MS Windows(tm) calibration software
- 32 x 32 Main maps with user programmable breakpoints
- VR and Hall Effect crankshaft/camshaft sensors
- Power and TTL ignition coil outputs
- Compatible with most O.E. sensors and actuators
- 1uS fuel and 0.25deg ignition resolution
- Wideband and narrowband, mono and stereo, lambda control
- Closed loop turbo boost control
- Fully sequential fuel and ignition control
- Variable camshaft timing control
- Powershift capability, integration with paddleshift systems
- Automatic internal barometric pressure compensation
- Full environmental fuel and ignition corrections
- Suitable for engine bay mounting with enclosures sealed to IP65

For added functionality compared to the SC Typhoon, we also offer the SC Tornado engine management system which adds features such as drive by wire throttle control, traction control and sequential injection for 8 cylinder engines.
